Il Convegno Fari di Fede e di Civiltà si è concluso, domenica mattina, con la testimonianza di alcuni operatori orionini e con la Celebrazione della Messa nella Cattedrale di Genova, presieduta dal Cardinale Angelo Bagnasco. Anche questa mattina più di 200 persone hanno preso parte alla conclusione dei lavori.

Dopo una presentazione di Don Paolo Clerici, direttore del Centro Don Orione di Bergamo, è iniziato il tempo delle testimonianze con l'intervento del dottor Giovambattista Guizzetti responsabile del reparto degli stati vegetativi di Bergamo. Il dottor Guizzetti ha ricordato che il suo servizio dura ormai da 12 anni e l'insegnamento che gli ammalati gli hanno donato, insieme ad un senso permanente di gratitudine, è il fatto di non dare nulla per scontato nella vita: alzare un braccio per bere un bicchiere di acqua o per mangiare un cucchiaio di gelato non è un'abilità acquisita per sempre.

Particolarmente toccante è stata la testimonianza di Quondamatteo Vicky che all'età di 14 anni ha conosciuto l'Opera di Don Orione durante un camposcuola estivo. Quell'incontro ha segnato la sua vita perché l'ha portata a donasi interamente al prossimo. Ha alternato gli anni universitari con periodi di esperienza missionaria in Kenya. Tornata poi in Italia, si è dedicata al recupero di adolescenti in situazione di disagio. Ultimamente le iniziative dell' Associazione Italiana Nomadi dell'Amore - nata dalle iniziative di Viky e delle suore orionine - si è aperta all'incontro con i rom e a nuove forme di aiuto verso i poveri.

La dottoressa Elena Meggiarin Boriani è la coordinatrice della Casa di accoglienza Madonna dei poveri per mamme e per minori di Cusano Milanino. Ha raccontato alcuni episodi di bambini violentati che, accolti nella loro piccola struttura, hanno recuperato la gioia di vivere. Un ritornello si ripete ogni volta che squilla il telefono e il giudice chiede l'accoglienza di un nuovo bambino: “ Voi siete di Don Orione, non potete dirci di no ”.

Dante Amedei del Centro Don Orione di Pescara - a cui è stata diagnosticata nel 1971 la tetra paresi spastica - ha ringraziato la Congregazione orionina per il bene ricevuto. La sua storia è la storia della sua famiglia che pienamente è stata inserita nella vita dell'Istituto Don Orione, non solo perché il padre e la madre lavorano nel Centro ma perché il cuore di san Luigi Orione ha conquistato tutti. “ Nel cuore ho un grande sogno – ha detto Dante – quello di ridare in amore ciò che ho ricevuto ”.

Lorenzo Crosta Presidente di Merabilia Dei, Cooperativa sociale per l'inserimento lavorativo dei disabili, ha riassunto la nascita della cooperativa ma soprattutto ha insistito sulla insufficienza della sua preparazione nell'occuparsi di disabili e di problematiche sociali, ma la forza della fede e la centralità di Cristo nella sua vita gli hanno dato la forza, la fantasia e la tenacia di affrontare tante difficoltà.

Ha concluso le testimonianze la dottoressa Marina Gualco che ha presentato l'ultima realizzazione scaturita dal cuore fecondo di Don Orione: L'abbraccio di Don Orione . E' una casa di accoglienza per i neonati che non possono immediatamente essere dati in affido o in adozione per complicanze di salute o per problemi legislativi. Sono figli di ragazze madri, di mamme sieropositive… che, in assenza della figura materna, vengono a mancare del contatto fisico necessario nei primi mesi di vita. Le suore orionine e i volontari hanno dato vita a questo progetto che verrà inaugurato questo pomeriggio.

Il Consigliere generale fratel Silanes e il Superiore generale Don Flavio Peloso hanno chiuso i lavori ringraziando i convegnisti per la loro presenza e la loro fattiva collaborazione.

The Conference Beacons of Faith and Culture came to an end on Sunday morning with the testimonies of some orionine community workers to which there followed the Celebration of the Mass by Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco in Genoa Cathedral. Even this morning over 200 people took part in the final stage of the proceedings.

In the chair was Father Paolo Clerici, director of the Don Orione Centre of Bergamo : he introduced each speaker. The first was Doctor Givanbattista Guzzetti , who is in charge of the vegetative condition ward of Bergamo . Doctor Guizzetti reminded his audience that his service is already 12 years old, that the patients have taught him a lot and that he feels a lasting sense of gratitude. We should never take anything for granted in life: even raising an arm to drink a glass of water to drink or to eat a spoonful of ice-cream is an ability which we may lose.

Especially touching was the testimony of Vicky Quondamatteo , who got to know the Work of Don Orione at fourteen years of age, during a summer school camp. That meeting marked her life because it led her to give herself completely to others. In between one year at university and the next she spent long periods of time as a missionary in Kenya . Back in Italy , she devoted herself to working for disadvantaged teenagers. Lately the undertakings of the Italian Association of the Nomads of Love – a group set up by Vicky and the Don Orione Sisters – have expanded to include assisting the Romanies and a new ways of helping the poor.

Doctor Elena Meggianin Boriani is the coordinator of the Madonna dei Poveri Guest House for mothers and for minors at Cusano Milanino. She related some episodes of abused children who, having been welcomed in their little institute, have reacquired the joy of living. A normal occurrence is that the telephone rings and a juvenile magistrate asks them to accept a new child, saying: “ You, Don Orione people, cannot say no .”

Dante Amedei of the Don Orione Centre of Pescara – who in 1971 was found to be suffering from spastic tetra paralysis – thanked the Don Orione Congregation for the good he has received. His story is the story of his family which is wholly involved in the life of the Don Orione Institute, not only because his father and mother work there, but also because the heart of Saint Luigi Orione has conquered everyone. “ In my heart there is a great dream – said Dante – that of returning the love I have received ”.

Lorenzo Costa, President of Mirabilia Dei, a Social Cooperative providing and finding jobs for disabled people, spoke of the birth of the institute and, above all, he manifested that he was quite unprepared to work for the disabled and tackle social problems, but the strength of faith and the fact that Christ is at the centre of his life, gave him the strength, the ideas and the tenacity to face up to many difficulties.

The series of testimonies was concluded by doctor Marina Gualco who introduced the latest work sprung from the fertile heart of Don Orione, The Embrace of Don Orione. It is a guest home for new born children who cannot immediately be fostered or adopted because of ill health or legal problems. They are children of unmarried mothers, HIV mothers,…. who, not having a mother, miss the physical- affective contact so important in the first few months of life. The Don Orione Sisters and the volunteers have brought this project to life and it will be officially opened in the afternoon.

Brother Silanes, General Councillor and Father Flavio Peloso, Superior General, brought the conference to an end by thanking all the participants for their presence and their practical cooperation.

Le Congrès Phares de foie t de civilisation s'est achevé, dimanche matin, par le témoignage de certains opérateurs orionistes et par la Célébration de la Messe dans la Cathédrale de Gênes, présidée par le Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco. Même ce matin, ont pris part à la conclusion des travaux, plus de 200 personnes.

Après une présentation du Père Paolo Clerici, directeur du Centre Don Orione de Bergame, a débuté le temps des témoignages par l'intervention du Dr Giovambattista Guizzetti, responsable du service des malades en état végétatif de Bergame. Le Dr Guizzetti a rappelé que son service dure depuis 12 ans et l'enseignement que les malades lui ont donné, avec un sens permanent de gratitude, est le fait de ne rien considérer de la vie comme quelque chose qui va de soi : pouvoir lever un bras pour boire un verre d'eau ou pour manger une cuillérée de glace n'est pas une habileté acquise pour toujours.

Le témoignage de Quondamatteo Vicky a été particulièrement touchant, elle qui a 14 ans a connu l'œuvre de Don Orione durant une colonie de vacance. Cette rencontre a marquée sa vie la poussant à donner toute sa vie au prochain. Elle a alterné les années d'universitaires avec des périodes d'expérience missionnaire au Kenya. Rentrée ensuite en Italie, elle s'est dédiée à la réhabilitation d'adolescents en difficulté. Dernièrement, les initiatives de l' AINA (Association Italienne des Nomades de l'Amour) — née de l'initiative de Vicky et des sœurs orionistes — s'est ouvert à la rencontre des rom [gitans] et à de nouvelles formes d'aide envers les pauvres.

Le Docteur Elena Meggiarin Boriani est la coordinatrice de la Maison d'accueil Madonna dei poveri ( La Vierge des pauvres) pour les mamans et les mineurs de Cusano Milanino. Elle a raconté quelques épisodes d'enfants violés qui, accueillis dans leur petite structure, ont récupéré la joie de vivre. Un refrain se répète chaque fois qu'il y a un coup de fil et que le juge demande d'accueillir un nouvel enfant : «  Vous êtes de Don Orione, vous ne pouvez pas nous dire non  ».

Dante Amedei du Centre Don Orione de Pescara — à qui en 1971 a été diagnostiqué une tétra-parésie spastique [un handicap moteur des quatre membres] — a remercié la Congrégation orionine pour tout le bien reçu. Son histoire est aussi l'histoire de toute sa famille qui a été pleinement insérée dans la vie de l'Institut Don Orione, pas seulement parce que son père et sa mère travaillent dans le Centre mais parce que le cœur de saint Luigi Orione les a tous conquis. «  J'ai dans le cœur un grand rêve — a dit Dante — celui de redonner en amour ce que j'ai reçu  ».

Lorenzo Crosta, Président de Mirabilia Dei [Merveilles de Dieu], Coopérative sociale pour l'insertion professionnelle des handicapés, a présenté la naissance de sa coopérative, mais il a surtout insisté sur l'insuffisance de sa préparation à s'occuper des handicapés et des problématiques sociales, mais l'énergie de la foi et la centralité du Christ dans sa vie, lui ont donné la force, la fantaisie et la ténacité pour affronter toutes les difficultés.

C'est le Dr Marina Gualco qui a conclu les témoignages en présentant la dernière œuvre née du cœur fécond de Don Orione : L'étreinte de Don Orione . C'est une maison d'accueille pour nouveau-nés qui ne peuvent pas être immédiatement confiés à des familles ou en adoption pour des problèmes de complications de santé ou pour des difficultés législatives. Ce sont des fils de filles mères, de mères séropositives… qui, en l'absence de la figure maternelle, manquent du contact physique nécessaire dans les premiers mois de vie. Les sœurs orionistes et les volontaires ont donné naissance à ce projet qui sera inauguré cet après-midi.

Le Conseil général, Frère Silanes et le Supérieur général Don Flavio ont clos les travaux en remerciant les congressistes pour leur présence et leur collaboration effective et efficace.

Sympozjum Światła wiary i cywilizacji zakończyło się w niedzielę rano świadectwami świeckich oriońskich i Eucharystią w Katedrze genueńskiej pod przewodnictwem kardynała Angelo Bagnasco. Również i dziś rano ponad 200 osób uczestniczyło w zakończeniu prac.

Po prezentacji ks. Paulo Clerici, dyrektora Centrum Ks. Orione rozpoczął się czas świadectw z wystąpieniem dra Giambattista Guizzetti, odpowiedzialnego za oddział chorych w stanie wegetatywnym w Bergamo. Dr Guizzetti przypomniał, że pracuje tam już od 12 lat. Lekcja, jaką dali mu chorzy, razem z ciągłym poczuciem wdzięczności i bezinteresowności są faktem, który uczy, by nigdy w życiu nie uważać nic za pewne: podnoszenie ręki, aby wypić szklankę wody, lub też zjeść łyżeczkę lodów, nie jest sprawnością nabytą na zawsze.

Szczególnie uderzającym było świadectwo Vicky Quondamatteo, która w wieku 14 lat poznała Zgromadzenie w czasie letniego obozu. To spotkanie naznaczyło jej życie, ponieważ doprowadziło ją do całkowitego oddania się dla bliźnich. Studiowała i jednocześnie wyjeżdżała na misje zdobywając doświadczenia w Kenii. Po powrocie do Włoch zajęła się rehabilitacją dorastającej młodzieży znajdującej się w trudnej stytuacji. Ostatnio inicjatywy Włoskiego Stowarzyszenia Nomadów Miłości – które zrodziło się z inicjatywy Vicky i Sióstr Orionistek – otwarło się na spotkanie z Romami i nowymi formami pomocy ubogim.

Dr Elena Meggiarin Boriani jest koordynatorką hostelu Madonna dei poveri – Matka Boża ubogich dla matek i nielitnich w Cusano Milanino. Opowiedziała epizody z życia gwałconych dzieci, które przyjęte do ich małego domku odzyskiwały radość życia. Za każdym razem, gdy dzwoni telefon, powtarza się ten sam refren i odzywa się głos sędziego, który prosi o przyjęcie nowego dziecka: „ Wy jesteście od Orionistów i nie możecie nam odmówić” .

Dante Amedei z Centrum w Peskarze – u którego stwierdzono w 1971 r. paraliż spastyczny – podziękował Zgromadzeniu Księży Orionistów, za otrzymane dobro. Historia jego i jego rodziny, która całkowicie została włączona w życie Instytutu Don Orione, nie tylko dlatego, że ojciec i matka pracują w Centrum, ale dlatego, że serce Ks. Alojzego Orione zdobyło ich wszystkich. „Noszę w swoim sercu ogromne marzenie – mówił Dante – by zwrócić w miłości to co otrzymałem”.

Lorenzo Crosta, Przewodniczący Mirabilia Dei , kooperatywy społecznej zajmującej się wprowadzaniem niepełnosprawnych w świat pracy, opowiedział syntetycznie powstawanie kooperatywy, ale przede wszystkim ukazywał niewystarczalność swego przygotowania do pracy z niepełnosprawnymi i ich problemami społecznymi, ale siła wiary i centralne miejsce Chrystusa w jego życiu dały mu siły, fantazję i wytrwałość do stawiania czoła trudnościom.

Świadectwa zakończyły się wystąpieniem dr Mariny Gualco, która przedstawiła realizację ostatniej inicjatywy zainspirowanej głębią serca Księdza Orione: W ramionach ks. Orione . Jest to hostel dla noworodków, które nie mogą być przekazane bezpośrednio rodzinom bądź adoptowane, z powodu powikłań zdrowotnych, lub też z powodu problemów prawnych. Są to dzieci samotnych matek, matek zarażonych HIV, etc., którym przy braku figury matki zaczyna brakowć kontaktu fizycznego, niezbędnego w ciągu pierwszych miesięcy życia. Siostry Orionistki i wolontariusze zrealizowali ten projekt, który zostanie inaugurowany dziś popołudniu.

Radca generalny br. Silanes i przełożony generalny Ks. Flavio Peloso dokonali podsumawania prac, dziękując uczestnikom Sympozjum za ich obecnośći i faktyczną współpracę.
